Connections = experiences
We love how our organization is growing organically - sometimes in unforeseen ways. Case in point: How a small group of great kids from Pleasant Grove got an experience of a lifetime at a recent Mexican National Team match.
Wells Fargo recently reached out to us, seeking a partner for a clinic attached to the Mexico-Australia match at AT&T Stadium. As we were a little stretched at the time (resource wise), it just didn’t work out. But we had made a great connection with Wells Fargo’s activation team in Los Angeles. They were absolutely swell, and we all seemed aligned on assisting underserved communities.
So a few days later, Wells Fargo reached out with a question: Could we help them find a group of kids who would enjoy an on-field experience at AT&T Stadium, complete with pre- and post-game interactions? Our response: “Uh … we most certainly can!”
Truth be told, these opportunities can easily land at the feet of the well-connected. These experiences simply have a harder time finding their way to kids in underserved areas, kids with less advocacy.
Well, we’re doing everything we can to create bridges - to create connections into the sparse infrastructure of Pleasant Grove soccer.
Some of the kids were student assistants at one of our summer camps - and they were fantastic. So we were thrilled to have them participate. A few were from the unofficial soccer teams of the TAG School of Pleasant Grove.
One of the coach / chaperones told us: “We could see the glow in their eyes. I know they will always remember being there.”
